Chukotka gold output falls 0.16% to 24.42 tns in 2020

ANADYR, Jan 19 (PRIME) -- Gold production on Russia’s Chukotka peninsula decreased by 0.16% on the year to 25.42 tonnes in 2020, a representative of the regional government’s department for natural resources and environment told PRIME on Tuesday.

Production of silver fell 4.99% to 106.105 tonnes.

Production of Chukotka Mining and Geological Company, a unit of Kinross Gold, fell by 5.4% to 10.605. tonnes of gold and by 4.3% to 91.651 tonnes of silver. Production of another Kinross Gold’s affiliate, Severnoye Zoloto, rose by 4.5% to 3.803 tonnes of gold and by 14.5% to 6.451 tonnes of silver.

Output of gold concentrate at the Maiskoye deposit, developed by Polymetal’s unit, increased by 14.5% to 5.03 tonnes.

Production of Rudnik Karalveyem, owned by Israeli businessman Lev Levayev, shrank by 5.7% to 1.576 tonnes, and silver production went down by 11.6 kilograms to 172.95 kilograms.

Production of Valunisty Mine, controlled by Russian billionaire businessman Roman Abramovich and his partners, soared by about 70% to 1.433 tonnes of gold and fell by 4% to 7.813 tonnes of silver.

The region’s output of coal rose by 7% on the year to 895,150 tonnes in 2020, while the output of natural gas went up 6% to 69.65 million cubic meters.
